SCIENCE GETS HIGH MARKS AT WALTHER LUTHERAN ACADEMY @FOREST PARK (May 7, 2008)

Summertime hits the ground running at Walther Lutheran Academy @Forest Park. Educational enhancement opportunities and summer camps ensure that there is plenty of activity to ward off the summertime blues for area children. It’s Safari Summer Camp for preschool and pre-kindergarten students from age 3 up at Walther Lutheran Academy. Weeklong sessions run Monday through Friday from June 9 through August 15 and features “safari adventures” through the African plains, the desert, the Australian Outback and other animal habitats. The camps feature field trips to child-friendly venues including the Brookfield Zoo and DuPage Children's Museum, community walking trips to bakeries and restaurants, a weekly movie day and special water play days. The registration fee is $50 per student and weekly tuition is $170 per child and includes breakfast, child care, hot lunch, snacks and field trip costs. The camp operates from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. offering busy parents convenient drop off and pick up options. Safari Summer Camp is closed on July 4.

Children in kindergarten through grade 6 can enroll in Walther Lutheran Academy’s Survivor Summer Camp. The program offers a new “Survivor” style adventure each week from June 9 through August 15. Each weekly camp features special on campus activities that revolve around international themes that include Africa, India, Germany, China, Australia, U.S.A, Mexico, Sweden, Italy and Ireland. There is a movie day at the Lake Theatre, a pool day at the Forest Park Recreation Department, a park day every week. Field trips include outings to Brookfield Zoo, Rainbow Falls Water Park, Circle Bowl, a Chinese restaurant, Build-a-Bear, the beach, Lincoln Park Zoo, Wilder Park, Scoops Ice Cream Parlor, a pizza parlor and Enchanted Castle. The summer registration fee is $50 per student and the weekly tuition is $140 per student, which includes breakfast, hot lunch, snacks and field trips. The camps are open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., with the exception of the July 4 holiday.

Fun and games extend to summer learning at Walther Lutheran Academy with Summer Education FUNction
for students entering grades 5 through 8. This academic enhancement program runs June 23 to July 18 from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday. Participants will enjoy Science enrichment, calculate food Math (eat the results!), go on a Language adventure, become a Geographer, painlessly, and learn how study more effectively. Students can be enrolled by the week. The Summer Education FUNction weekly fee is $75 per student, with a discounted rate the week of June 30 to July 3, as there is no session on July 4.

Walther Lutheran Academy @Forest Park serves families with children from age 3 through 8th grade and includes a comprehensive Early Childcare Center. The Academy is located at 305 Circle Avenue in Forest Park where it offers the benefits of multiage learning in a caring Christian environment.
