what's in a name?

Our name – Walther Lutheran Academy @ Forest Park is a name with meaning.

Walther - It is important that people know this school grows from the vision of the Walther Lutheran High School Board of Directors. Our Board has been working to design a regional approach to Lutheran Education for the past four years. The operation of an elementary school is entirely consistent with a ministry that seeks to provide a Christian perspective on a student’s growth; academically, socially and spiritually.

Lutheran - is a part of our name because of the commitment of the Lutheran church to the training and development of ministers of education, providing the church and community with a commitment that our instruction will be excellent and that our desire to teach is a response to God’s call to include us in His army of workers.

Academy – Grade school, elementary school, middle school: each of these words create an outlook on what happens inside the classrooms of a particular school. We aspire to be a collection of those committed to academics, to learning, and to growth. While we have benefited from and honor the traditions of learning at St. John’s congregation, we will drive all of those associated with the Academy to look at learning with a new commitment to success.

@ - It is our belief that this symbol tells you a lot about our desire to remain current with educational trends and technological capabilities. This is not your grandfather’s Lutheran school.

Forest Park – For more than 130 years people in this community have dedicated themselves to extending His kingdom one young heart at a time. The congregation that has sponsored this school for so many years will be a tremendously valuable partner in our educational efforts.
