Hello Walther Lutheran High School Class of 1968,

Lordy, lordy, it’s been forty years since we graduated from good ol’ Walther! We had a great time at the thirty fifth reunion, four years ago! Sadly, the Come Back Inn is no more but we can still party on whenever and wherever the group pleases sometime next year. Some of you may have gotten an inadvertent “shot over the bow” e-mail a couple of weeks back. I was just playing around with the list from four years ago and unintentionally sent out a message “I hope these all go through!”. Well, all but 10 out of 55 e-mails were valid and I received several Hellos! I guess it served to get your attention!

Our thirty-fifth reunion was a marvelous occasion; plenty of stories, pictures, old friends and reconnections not to mention food and drink in a bygone setting. If you missed it, here is another chance. If you were there, I hope you come again.

So what is the will of the class? Tradition has Homecoming as the premier venue. Walther is making a full weekend of activities available for returning alumni, friends and families next year beginning with the Coronation Rally and All Alumni Reception on October 3rd, 2008; the parade, “Back to School” campus tours, complete with a retro cafeteria lunch and varsity football game (Walther vs. Luther South) on Sat. Oct 4th, and the reunion class party that evening. Sunday includes a worship service at St. Paul’s and reunion brunch hosted at Walther. After some fast footwork, our class has first dibs on using the great party rooms at the local pub, Molly Malone’s, in Forest Park, for the evening of Oct.4th. Alumni can participate in as much of the organized schedule as they want, but the heart of the day is the class party.  Please consider gathering with us to kick back and reacquaint it won’t be the same without you!

That is one scenario.  A reunion can take place at any time of the year and there are a multitude of locations to consider. What are some of your ideas? There were over 75 people at our thirty fifth in some pretty tight but amiable quarters. There are many we could not locate and some have since lost touch. If we start now, I hope we can at least contact everyone still out there (have we lost any classmates?) and reassemble our class in spirit if not in one place.  If you want to help with the planning, putting together a memory book, memorabilia, web site, whatever, please let me know. Paul Malzahn did the lion’s share of contacting last time with amazing results. More hands could make our 40th even more successful!

Enough verbiage!  Peace and blessings, Bobbi (Kruse) Gillespie

P.S.  Until we have a website set up (any techies out there willing?) please send e-mails to walther68@gmail.com. We’ll incorporate this address into the site to keep in touch and informed.

P.P.S.  I am including a list of names of classmates we have not been able to track down. If you have information (even if they do not want to be contacted) please let me know just to be aware of their wishes.
