Dear Supporters of Walther Lutheran High School:

This year the Walther Boosters are sponsoring several fundraising events to benefit the Wheels for Walther program for the purpose of purchasing a new school bus. We need your help. Please give these events as much publicity as possible and encourage your members to attend.

For the 2007-08 school year, we have scheduled the following fundraising events:

•  Walther Recycle$: September 2007 to May 2008. In 2006-2007 the Boosters raised $300 collecting used cell phones and ink jet cartridges. For 2007=2008 the Boosters are expanding the recycling to include laser jet cartridges, digital cameras, iPods, PDAs, laptops, video games, video game consoles. See information enclosed and get started on making this fundraiser a success.

•  Poinsettia Sale: Pre-orders will be taken by students from October 8 to October 26, 2007 or at Walther.com (see the Boosters section). Plants will be available for pickup in Walther's cafeteria on November 29, 2007.

Please place in your Church Bulletin: October 8, 2007 to October 29, 2007 (poster enclosed). Order form also enclosed for church orders.

•  Oktoberfest 2007: Sunday, October 21 from noon to 4 p.m. This annual event has excellent entertainment, food and games for the entire family to enjoy, plus delicious homemade baked goods, a silent auction and Bronco Thrift Shop treasures for sale.

•  Taste of Walther 2008: Saturday, March 15 from 1 to 5 p.m. This annual event will feature food representing the diverse Walther community. Fun for everyone with food, games and entertainment. (More information in February).

•  Spring Plant Sale: Pre-orders will be taken by students from March 3 to March 28, 2008 or at Walther.com (see the Boosters section). Plants will be available for pickup at Walther's athletic fields on Thursday, May 8, 2008. (More information in February).

The Walther Lutheran High School Boosters Club is collecting used cell phones, inkjet and laser jet cartridges, digital cameras, iPods, PDAs, laptops, video games and video game consoles to raise funds for the Wheels for Walther fund to purchase a new school bus. Turn in your used cell phones, printer cartridges, iPods, PDAs, laptops, VCRsand video games to Walther Lutheran High School at 900 W. Chicago Ave. in Melrose Park.

Poinsettia Plant Sale

Announcement period: October 8, 2007 to October 29, 2007

The Walther Lutheran High School Boosters Club is selling Poinsettia plants to raise funds for the Wheels for Walther fund to purchase a new school bus. Poinsettia plants are available in red, white or pink and in three sizes ranging from $5 to $15. Order forms are available from the school or at Walther.com (see the Boosters section). Plant pickup is scheduled for Thursday, November 29 in Walther's cafeteria at 900 W. Chicago Ave. in Melrose Park.

Oktoberfest

Announcement period: September 1, 2007 to October 21, 2007  

Walther Lutheran High School will host the 10 th Annual Oktoberfest on Sunday, October 21, from noon to 4 p.m. Oktoberfest 2007 will feature polka bands, singing groups, German sing-a-longs, kid's carnival games, a craft fair, silent auction, bake sale and great German food – brats, sauerkraut and German potato salad. Bring your friends and family for a fun afternoon. Admission is free.
