Greetings
Gift cards stink! I know we use them for a number of reasons but really they stink don’t they. Here are a couple of really cool gift “types”: handmade gifts, like figures made of pasta ornaments made from cookie dough or photo cubes that freeze timeless moments.
What makes us think that getting a gift from our list is automatically a good thing? Maybe if I get a year’s supply of hot dogs from Gene and Jude’s I would be happy, but it might not be good for me.
On a cold night a long time ago the world received a Gift that it never anticipated. It was a gift that few would have had on their list but, it is THE Gift that transforms our lives. Finding a new Lexus in the driveway might make us hyper ventilate and the latest game system might occupy our mind for weeks to come but the Gift of Life and light changes our eternity. If I were God I would have flashed a multicolored light in the sky and announced to all who saw it that all their sins had been forgiven. But God had a different plan. He called the shepherds to a stable and had them unwrap a different Gift.
This Christmas you are sure to receive a gift that you are ready to re-gift. When that urge hits you -- keep the second copy of “Holiday Hits” or the fruit cake, but be sure to re-gift the love of God that caused Him to send His only Son into our world.
School News
As we begin the New Year our faculty will embark on a new study discipline. Once a week we will gather for Bible reading. This will be in addition to our faculty devotions and regular chapel. We recognize that we draw our strength from God and encounter Him in His word so...we pledge to get more involved in examining His message for the world.
This is the time to listen to students enrolled in other high schools who share their dissatisfaction with their current educational environment. Students who are interested in transferring should make a move now. [Now this is kind of spooky in an “it’s really good that God is king of the universe” kind of way. As I was typing this, I got a call from a family that will move the heavens to be here in January!]
Plans are moving forward on the reorganization of the Walther Lutheran High School Association. A board workshop will be held on January 12, 2008. Soon after that we will begin sharing plans and encouraging people, and the institutions that they create, to join us as we move into the future.
Alumni News
Look who is in the news. Roger Kruel ’74 was interviewed by fox News Chicago as he pulled into the Shell gas station where the latest winning lottery ticket was purchased. Too bad he did not buy the winner. We could use another gym!

Christmas Greetings

We wish you a very, merry Christmas from the whole Walther staff and faculty. We give thanks that YOU are a part of our Walther Family. We pray that God will bless you richly in the coming year and we remind you that He is with even through the deepest, darkest valleys. Know that no matter where you are…near or far, home or away…we are all members of One Body joined in worshipping the Christ Child as we celebrate His Birth.
An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.” Luke 2:9-14
God’s blessings
