Juniors (Graduation date - 2009) - To qualify for consideration in the Illinois State Scholar Program, you must take the ACT during the third or fourth semester prior to graduation from high school and is also based on class rank. Take the ACT between September 1 and June 30 (by the end of the third semester before high school graduation*) This means that you MUST take your first ACT test by June 14, 2008 (registration deadline is May 9, 2008).

* (the end of junior year in high school)

(It is suggested that students take the ACT with Writing version of the ACT test)

PSAT/NMSQR

TEST DATE - SATURDAY, OCTOBER 20, 2007 - STUDENTS MUST TURN IN PERMISSION SLIP (click here for details and permission slip) AND $13 FEE BY SEPTEMBER 17, 2007.

This test assesses critical reading, mathematical reasoning, and writing skills. The test gives specific suggestions on how to improve academic skills as well as prepare for the SAT test. The test further enters participants in the National Merit Scholarship Corporation competitions for recognition and scholarships including the National Merit Scholarship Program and the National Achievement Scholarship program.

Students should review the Official Student Guide at Collegeboard.com and take the practice test. Score reports are sent to Walther in December.
