College Application Calendar for Seniors

September of Senior Year

Meet with your counselor about college plans and review your transcripts.
Get started on your applications right away if you plan to apply through Early Decision or Early Action. Deadlines for early decisions tend to be in October or November.
Start working on your college essays. Update your "resume" - your list of accomplishments, involvements, with your senior year activities.
Decide which teachers, coaches, and employers you will be asking for letters of recommendations. Give them plenty of time to meet your deadlines (3 weeks).

October - December of Senior Year

Consider taking courses at a local university or community college
Keep working hard all year; second semester grades can affect scholarship eligibility
Visit with college admissions counselors who come to your high school
Attend a college fair
Begin your college essay(s)
Apply for admission at the colleges you've chosen
Find out if you qualify for scholarships at each college you have applied to
Start the financial aid application process
See your school counselor for help finding financial aid and scholarships
