What was meant for evil...

Return to Picture of the Week front page

"What was meant for evil, God used for good." That was the message that the children at the schools founded and served by The Liberian Children's Ministry wanted to share through ministry founder and pastor Joe Boway when he spoke to Walther students. Liberia is a country still recovering from a 14-year-long civil war (1990 - 2003) which uprooted over half of its pre- war population, killed more than 200,000 people, and left behind many orphaned children. In this poor war-torn West African nation one of the few things in abundance was bullet casings. Made into crosses, these instruments of death now help to tell the Gospel story of eternal life and salvation through Jesus Christ.

After speaking at Walther Lutheran High School's weekly chapel service (where students collected four times their normal offering amount to benefit The Liberian Children's Ministry), the Rev. Joe Boway headed over to visit with the junior high class at Walther Lutheran Academy @Forest Park.
