Grant-In-Aid Application Forms

WALTHER LUTHERAN HIGH SCHOOL
2008-2009 GRANT-IN-AID PROGRAM

IMPORTANT MESSAGE: Read this before completing the Grant-In-Aid Forms.

Funding for Christian schools in Illinois demands a complex blend of resources. Overwhelmingly, Walther is funded by tuition. Since the founding of our school, congregations have provided additional funding for students. In recent years, we have seen the growth of urban minded foundations who have provided students with scholarships and college counseling. You may be aware that the state has been
working on tuition tax credits and potentially the issuance of a voucher to provide state money directly to Christian schools.

For the 2007-2008 school year we are happy to announce that Walther will provide tuition assistance for a limited number of families. This assistance is based on need and applicants need to comply with the following requirements.

1. You must disclose any congregations or outside agencies that MAY provide you with tuition assistance.

2. The Grant-In-Aid application file must be complete, with both financial information and recommendations.

3. Families who file Grant-In-Aid application forms after the April 15 deadline should realize that they will NOT receive the maximum grant for which they are eligible.

If a family is awarded a tuition assistance package, they should be aware of the following limitations and requirements:

1. Every valid package includes Student Work Study.

2. To qualify, parents must redeem the Parent Involvement Credit (PIC).

3. Student Work Study and PIC will be credited as it is earned.

4. Grants and scholarships will be awarded in the second semester.

5. If the student receives a suspension (either in-school or out-of-school) during the first semester, the grant will be forfeited.

6. The student must maintain a GPA of 2.0+ and not fail any semester class.
