Preview
The Lady Broncos enter the 2008 season with high expectations. Last year the Lady Broncos made it to the Sectional Championship game for the first time in School's history, but unfortunately we lost to Lisle. Entering this season, nine players return last years team: Cassie Slechta, Amy Aurrichio, Esther Nickels, Melanie Mojica, Abby Hoffman, Caitlin Smith, Emily Simpson, Cariluz Velez, Stephanie Mitchell and Rachel Solyom. All eight players will play significant roles this season. Rounding out the team are: Natalie Holman, Melanie Tharpe, Morgan Taylor, Hannah Solyom, Toni Mitchell, and Chloe Rodrigue.
The schedule consists of 30 games and 2 tournaments. The new addition to the schedule is playing against Trinity High School at Triton College and Aurora Central Catholic. The Lady Broncos will be traveling again to Edwardsville , IL for the Metro East Tournament where we tied for First place last year.

Wheaton Academy : 1
The Lady Broncos took the first game in the doubleheader. The Lady Broncos showed what playing as a team is all about. Yesterdays effort showed hitting consistency throughout the line up and defensively executed the right way. They will bring this to the next contest and continue to surprise other teams. Wheaton Academy : 6
The Lady Broncos showed what playing as a team is all about when they rallied together to stop Wheaton Academy to only 6 runs. Yesterdays effort showed hitting consistency throughout the line up and defensively executed the right way. The umpires called the game due to darkness in the bottom of the sixth inning, therefore, ending the contest in a tie. Senior pitcher Cassie Sletcha gets the tie with the help of a true team effort.

Walther Lutheran: 4 vs.
Springfield Lutheran: 2
The Lady Broncos showed what playing as a team is all about. Friday's effort in the first game of the tournament showed that we were hitting consistency throughout the line up and defensively executed the right way. We were able to get girls on base and bring them home. Senior pitcher Cassie Sletcha had 13 strikeouts and gets the win with the help of a true team effort.

Saxony Lutheran: 2
The Lady Broncos showed what playing as a team is all about. Friday's effort in the second game under the lights showed that we were hitting consistency throughout the line up and defensively executed the right way. We were able to get girls on base and bring them home. Senior pitcher Cassie Sletcha had 11 strikeouts and only 3 walks and gets the win with the help of a true team effort.

Metro East Lutheran: 9
The Lady Broncos won their pool which led them into the Championship game on Saturday against the Lady Knights of Metro East Lutheran. It was a very cold and windy day down in Edwardsville , Illinois . Both teams fought hard in the weather, but ultimately the Lady Broncos had a tough lose. The Lady Broncos hit the ball well and made many defensive plays against Metro. Senior pitcher Cassie Sletcha gets the loss, but had some great innings.

The Lady Broncos had a tough lose, but still saw many positives. The game was close up until the 5th inning when the Lady Eagles broke away. The Lady Broncos made many defensive plays but ultimately was defeated in the 7th inning. Senior pitcher Cassie Schlecta gets the loss, but had some great innings and striking out 8 players.

The Lady Broncos beat the Lady Pirates yesterday with a true team effort. The girls hit the ball well and were there to make all the defensive plays. Everyone in the line up had at least one hit. Senior pitcher Cassie Schlecta gets the win with striking out 11 players and only walking 1 .

Ridgewood scored early and we had to battle back to score our 2 runs. We scored early and the Lady Broncos fought hard to keep our lead. Illiana Christian: 10
The Lady Broncos had a tough lose, but still saw many positives. The Lady Broncos struggled a little at the plate, but the girls rallied in the bottom of the 7th inning. Senior Cassie Slechta hit a 2 run homerun over the fence, the second person in Walther history to do so. Senior pitcher Cassie Slechta gets the loss, but had some great innings.

The Lady Broncos had a tough lose, but still saw many positives. They executed their hits better in the second game then in the first. The Lady Broncos scored first and kept the lead for 4 innings but then Illiana rallied a scored 3 runs in the 6th. They Lady Broncos took the lost but held their heads high. Senior pitcher Cassie Slechta gets the loss, but had some great innings.

The Lady Broncos rallied late in 10 innings to pull out the victory. Sophomore Amy Aurrichio continues to rally the team at the plate going 3-4 with a triple and the game winning hit. Senior pitcher Cassie S lechta gets the win.

Timothy Christian: 8
The Lady Broncos took a early lead in the game, but Timothy Christian battled back to go up 7 to 4. The Lady Broncos fought back with a true team effort to tied up the game in the top of the 7th, but Timothy Christian was able to rally to get the win. Senior pitcher Cassie Slechta gets the loss.
Walther Lutheran: 0 vs.
Chicago Christian: 4
The Lady Broncos had a tough lose against the Lady Knights. It was a cold and raining doubleheader in Palos Heights but the Lady Broncos put up a fight. The Lady Broncos hit the ball well, but Chicago Christian was rock solid defensively. Senior pitcher Cassie Slechta gets the loss, but had some great innings. She had 10 strike outs and only 6 walks.
Walther Lutheran: 3 vs.
Chicago Christian: 7
The Lady Broncos lost the second game in the doubleheader, but saw many positives. We were able to execute offensively much better and had some great catches in the outfield. Senior pitcher Cassie Slechta gets the loss, but had some great innings.

The lady broncos finished their conference with winning both games against LHN. The team scored early and often holding off the Wildcats with great defense and strong hitting from the first four in the line up. Slechta gets both wins.

vs. Willowbrook
vs. Immaculate Conception
vs. Taft
The Bison tournament turned out to be a tough going the first 2 games losing to both Willowbrook and Immaculate Conception by just a few runs. Fortunately the Broncos pulled it all together by beating Taft with sound defense and offensive performances. Highlights for the weekend saw Amy Aurrichio hitting another home run, triple, and 2 doubles. Rachel Solyom contributed as her bat heats up for the regionals and Cassie Slechta gets the win, after suffering the first 2 loses.

IHSA Regional: Walther 8 vs. Latin 4
The host Lady Broncos entered the regionals facing Chicago Latin and get the win 8-4. Cassie Slechta pitches a strong outing getting another win for the senior hurler. Sophomore Amy Aurrichio continues her strong play defensively at shortstop with 3 puts outs and another triple/double. Cassie Slechta and Rachel Solyom also help out with their on base production. The team moves on to the regional final vs. Hampshire Saturday @ 11:00 which will be a very tough contest.
