A combined lab with Mr. Matt Tuomi's Earth Science and Mr. Ray Murphy's AP Physics classes featured dry ice, solid CO2 (carbon dioxide).
Devontae, a freshman in Earth Science, submerges a sealed plastic pipette partially filled with powdered dry ice in a beaker of water.
The pressure inside the pipette increases beyond the breaking point, causing a small explosion and the scattering of roughly 250 ml. of water in the immediate vicinity of the beaker. Looks like "clean-up in aisle five!"
