Scholastic
bowl meets follow a TV game show format where teams from various
schools compete. Some of the matches follow IHSA rules, which enables
the high school scholastic bowl team to qualify for the state tournament
held in the spring. Other tournaments are run by colleges, universities,
and other organizations to interest students in those organizations.
These tournaments have their own rules. The tournaments seem to
be a lot of fun regardless of the setting and/or rules. If you think
you are a "smart cookie" with the courage to take a risk
on being the first one with a good chance at the right answer (not
necessarily absolute certitude), you might want to try some of our
practices.
