By:Mitch Berg 1 Corinthians 12:12-13 and 21-22 Verses 12-13 The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. Verses 21-22 The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!" And the head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need you!" On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable.
We here at Walther are one body, and we should operate as one through Jesus Christ our Lord and savior. And as such we cannot say to another student "I don't need you!" or one of the teams here say to another "We don't need you!" because we all need each other to be able to function with efficiency. This idea of functioning as one body goes beyond just Walther, one state can't say to another "I don't need you!" because the country wouldn't work it would lose an important part of itself and would no longer function as a whole. The same thing goes for the Triune God, Jesus cannot say "God I don't need you! or the Holy Spirit cannot say to Jesus "I don't need you!" because if one of them was missing the Trinity would fall apart and our sins would not have been forgiven and eternal life after death would never come about. All of this comes back to the words Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 12 "we are all baptized by one spirit, into one body" and the words of Jesus as well "love your neighbor as yourself." Since we are all part of the same body in Christ Jesus we are all neighbors and should therefore love one another as Jesus taught us to, otherwise humanity, existence, and the Christian faith will never work we'll be too busy hating each other to accomplish anything, all of everything will fall apart. Please pray with me.. . Dearest Father in Heaven, help us to accept and appreciate those around us and give us the strength to not say "I don't need you!" but to say "I DO need you!" We also pray that you will sooth all the pains felt by those that are hurting and dry the tears of those who are sad. In your name we pray. Amen
