Everybody Needs Somebody Sometime

By: Stephanie Garcia

Those are the worsd theat title one of my favorite songss by Jewel. The chorus goes, “Cause everybody needs somebody somtime.” It's a very simple concept. The rest of the song details the lives of different people who turned down other s simply because they themselves thought they were too good. In the end, however, each of the people who put themselves on a pedastal, ended up needing the other for whatever reason.

While on the topic of song lyrics, another song that will help me get my point across is “For Good” from the popular musical Wicked . The song begins, “I've heard is said that people come into out lives for a reason bringing something we must learn. And we are led to those who help us must to grow, it we let them, and we help them in return.” As mush as it is said that in the end, all we've done on earth won't matter because of the heavenly home we'll be in, there isa purpose for us here. Good put us here for a reason. We meet the people we do for a reason. As much as God intends for us to fall in love, sometimes getting our hearts broken is also part of our journey. Best friends who plan to spend their lives together probably won't. But in the end, there is a lesson learned from each of those people who meant so much to us. And sometimes all you can do is learn that lesson and grow from it.

Roman's 12:5 reads, “So in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to the others.”

We are those members. And as much as we need God, He puts us here to need each other.

Please pray:

Dear God,

Through our lives we meet meny people. And from those people we learn. It might not be a lesson we are eager to learn, but it is a lesson from You. Help us to realize what we have when we have it, and when the inevitable happens and people are taken away from us, let us realize what those people have taught us and that the lesson tearned will in the end bring us closer together as on body in You.

Amen
