By: Gelacio Villalobos Gelacio Villalobos "You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn. . . to God, the judge of all men." Hebrews 12: 22,23 Traveling alone is usually not much fun. With whom do you plan the sights? With whom do you plot the way? Who is there to pick you up when discouraged or spur you on when tired? Thank God for the traveling companions I have on the way to heaven. Though I cannot see them, countless angels are there. In heaven they sing the praises of the lamb who died and rejoice over each sinner brought to repentance. On earth they travel with me to care for me on the way and to carry my ransomed soul home at last. What a comfort to know those angels accompany me with their power. The church of the firstborn also travels with me. Around me on the journey are fellow believers. Like the firstborn in Jewish families of old, they have received the greatest inheritance. They, with me, share the best God has to give, the promise of an eternal home. What comfort to know that I have them as companions with whom to share the sights and from whom to receive encouragement. My best companion by far is God, the judge of all. This judge not only condemns, but he also acquits. And that he has already done for me. In heaven's courtroom he has declared me not guilty because of his Son's payment for all my sins. When he acquits, his verdict stands. In his grace he has waiting for me the crown of life in heaven. What a promise to spur me on as I travel the road home. Great Jehovah, guide me, keep me, accompany me on the road home to heaven. Amen
