Teach me Your way, O LORD, and I will walk in Your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear Your name. Psalm 86:11
WALKING IN FAITH...
"Remember, O Lord, how I have walked before you faithfully..." 2 Kings 20:3a
How many times have you come home in the evening and run into things trying
to find a light switch? I have had this happen to me on many occasions. My house is not a complicated place, I know where everything is. But when I come home at night and I can't find the light switch I have a hard time trying to find where I'm going. I can remember one night in particular when the power went out because of a bad thunderstorm. Not only was it dark but even if I found the light switch I wouldn't be able to turn on the lights. I had to trust that because I knew where everything was, I would be able to guide myself throughout my house. Even thought it was very likely that I was going to run into something.
Martin Luther King Jr. said this about faith. "Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase." No one knows God's plans for them. We may want do something with our life that is the complete opposite of what God has in store for us. We need to trust that God will be there to walk with us and guide us throughout our life. We may not like it, but God's plan for us is ultimately greater than any plan that we could come up with. This is hard to hold onto when we are faced with bad situations. We lose our trust in God, and think that He isn't on our side. But the truth is that He never leaves us. He walks with us every step of the way in life and will never leave, even if we lose faith in Him. We are going to face trials but in the end God will always be walking with us and sometimes will be carrying us in life. We are in the dark when it comes to what the future holds, but God is the eternal light and if we follow, He will lead us to everlasting life with Him in heaven.
We pray: Dear God, we may not always trust in You and believe that You are walking beside us. Help us to know You, and to know that You will never leave us. Amen.
