In the movie, The Gospel, the main character strays away from the church only to realize that his strength comes from Christ and God was always walking with him. This adaptation of the prodigal son depicts how we all stray, but can return to Christ. This can be called, “Looking for God in all the wrong places.” Sounds like an oxymoron. In truth, it is an oxymoron because God is everywhere. Often, we act as if we don't realize this. When we need comfort we seek people, work, food, drugs, and other negative behaviors that do not bring glory to God. We say, “God why aren't you here?” or “Why aren't you answering me?” That is because we're looking for answers an His voice in the wrong places. People are not God, work is not God, nor are any of the other earthly things we seek God in. There is only one God and the truth is that while we spend so much time searching for answers in earthly things we should be look beside us, because He takes every step with us; even when we stray. In Deuteronomy, He says that he will never leave us nor forsake us. So next time you need comfort through a difficult time and answers, look to Christ, the one that will always be there. This song, I wanted to share with you is a perfect celebration of finding God and allowing Him to take care of your needs after realizing that you cannot find solace in earthly things.

Looking For You Video by Kirk Franklin

Let us pray: Dear God, Thank you for always walking beside us even when we don't trust in You the way we should. Remind us that we don't have to go looking for you because you are always ordering our steps. Amen
