My name is Meredith Schaefer and I am really bad at baking. Well, not so much anymore. I have been taking baby steps; but still the skills are not there. Two years ago people at my lunch table were going to bring sweets for Valentine's Day. I am not a huge fan of chocolate chip cookies, so I decided to make sugar cookies instead. I not only made these sugar cookies but I also made them into the shape of hearts. Now how's that for festive? I was so excited to bring these in for my friends to enjoy. You can probably guess what happened next. The cookies were awful. They were hard as rocks. Tasting them wasn't even an option because you cou;dn't bite into them. Hust ask any of my friends. I don't think they will ever let me live down the day I almost broke their teeth. The conclusion I came to was that I probably forgot an ingredient. This year's theme that I know you have heard so many times reminded me of this story. "The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ." Missing just one ingredient makes an entire recipe fail, or in my case break teeth. We are all needed and included in the body of Christ. God not only included us, but also has plans for us. "'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord. 'Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'" Jeremiah 29:11
Let's pray
Dear Lord,
We thank you for never forgetting us. Please help us to live our lives according to you and walk in the way that is pleasing to you.
In your name we pray, Amen. |
