Invocation: We begin in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
Reading : Matthew chapter 24 says:
42 "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
Lesson: Tomorrow is homecoming. Homecoming is a great day of celebration, and most of us our excited or anxious, maybe even a little nervous. This whole week has been in anticipation of homecoming. We look forward to the parade, the dance, and athletic events, especially the football game. But just as we wait for tomorrow's events, we also are waiting for something else. We await the return of our Lord, Jesus Christ. We await his "homecoming", his return to earth to take us as believers to our eternal home, heaven.
Prayer: (Let Us Pray Luther's Morning Prayer)
I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray You that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doing and life may please You. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the wicked one may have no power over me. Amen. |
