Biography
I was born in Meridian, Mississippi, but lived in Butler, Alabama where my father was a minister at. I was raised mostly in Forest Park, Illinois and Saint Paul, Minnesota. I graduated from Valparaiso University in 2008 and received my Masters in Education in 2012 from Valparaiso University as well. Last summer I married my beautiful wife Laura and currently live in Forest Park.
I came to Walther right out of college and joined the social studies department that year. The next year I also became part of the religion department and I have taught both for the last three years. My first two years here I worked with a few church youth groups as well. I coached basketball for seven years on various levels as an assistant and head coach. I also have coached softball, golf and five years of baseball.
In my free time I enjoy golfing, playing softball, travelling and reading history or science fiction books.
Philosophy of Education
As a teacher in a Lutheran school, my first role is to be a demonstrator, developer, facilitator and mentor for our students in teaching them about the love of our Lord Jesus Christ and how to live a life according to his Word and will for us. Also, I try to encourage our students to show the love of Christ through others in their service and activities.
My other role as a teacher is to help connect the past to our present through the learning in various social studies classes. I work towards helping our students become prepared citizens, knowledgeable about current issues and ready to be a willing participant in our country. Through discussions, activities and other resources, I hope to develop students opinions so they may be able to think and act for themselves in their next stage of life.
