Greetings from Walther, in this Season of our Savior’s Birth!
“In the Beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” These words were read at a recent Walther Chapel, an Advent Lessons and Carols service. Here in Melrose Park, Illinois, in a gymnasium full of 290 students on a Wednesday afternoon we pondered the mystery of the eternal, triune God as we meditated on John 1:1. In our ordinary setting, God broke in, through the readings, through the music of our band and choir, through the pause we take in the midst of a day of academics to worship our mighty God. Just like God became incarnate in an ordinary stable, among animals and humble shepherds 2,000 years ago. What joy Advent worship has been at Walther!
When we are not in chapel, we are plenty busy with all the usual activities of winter, of course: basketball games, wrestling tournaments, our Christmas concert, preparing for finals, and getting ready for a well-deserved break. Whatever we are doing, we keep the love of God front and center at Walther, and it is our prayer that this holiday season you feel the presence of Christ in your lives as well.
God bless you, Bronco Family, and Merry Christmas!
